About Tokelau

Tokelau is a remote and unique group of three tropical coral atolls—Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo—located in the South Pacific Ocean, approximately halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand. As a dependent territory of New Zealand, Tokelau has a small population of around 1,500 people, making it one of the least populous territories in the world. The atolls are known for their stunning natural beauty, with pristine lagoons, vibrant marine life, and lush coconut palms. Despite its isolation, Tokelau has a rich Polynesian culture, with traditional practices, language, and communal governance systems still playing a central role in daily life.
