Ethiopia, located in the Horn of Africa, is a landlocked country with a rich history and diverse cultural heritage. Known as one of the oldest nations in the world, it is often referred to as the "Cradle of Humanity" due to the discovery of ancient hominid fossils, such as Lucy. Ethiopia is unique in Africa for having never been fully colonized, maintaining its independence except for a brief Italian occupation during World War II. The country is home to over 80 ethnic groups, each with its own language and traditions, contributing to a vibrant cultural tapestry. Ethiopia is also renowned for its stunning landscapes, ranging from the Simien Mountains to the Danakil Depression, and its ancient Christian heritage, exemplified by the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. With a growing economy and a young, dynamic population, Ethiopia continues to play a significant role in the region and on the global stage.
